Canada: Riverview man arrested after police officer struck by ATV

An 18-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., was arrested Sunday after a police officer was struck by an all-terrain vehicle during a vehicle stop, according to a written statement from RCMP Cpl. Christa Mitchell. At 4:15 p.m. Sunday an officer from the Riverview detachment stopped an ATV on Country Club Road, Mitchell said.

Once stopped, the driver of the ATV attempted to flee and the police officer was struck, Mitchell said. The police officer was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries and then released. The 18-year-old man was later located and arrested in Riverview. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court July 14 at 9 a.m.
