Texas: Dallas Officer on Foot Sideswiped by Hit-and-Run Driver

A Dallas police officer was taken to the hospital early Saturday morning after he was struck by a driver in Uptown that refused to stop and then fled. According to police, the officer was working off-duty in full uniform at a location in the 2700 block of McKinney Avenue. Around 3:45 a.m., the officer was in the parking lot when a truck began coming towards him. The officer attempted to stop the truck, but the vehicle would not stop. The officer tried to move out of the way, but was sideswiped by the vehicle.

The truck then fled the scene. The officer was taken to Baylor Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released. There was nearby shooting in Uptown about a hour-and-a-half before the truck incident, but police say at this time, they have no indications the incidents are related. However, they said both investigations are ongoing.
