South Carolina: Suspect Hits Officer; Facing Several Charges
Columbia Police officers have arrested a suspect accused of *hitting an officer in the upper body with a car. *28 year old Cory Stephon Boyd has been arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, driving under suspension, habitual offender, possession with intent to distribute crack, unlawful carrying of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, DUI, failure to stop for blue lights, failure to stop on police command, possession of Schedule II Drug.
The officer was not seriously hurt.
Police say Boyd was passed out in a car on Devine Street and Ft. Jackson Boulevard. An officer tried to help him out of the car and that's when investigators say the man drove off, hitting the cop.
He was arrested on Monticello near Muller avenue and Joan Street.
Police say they found a gun and what appears to be crack in his car.
Columbia police say Boyd was taken to the hospital and is in police custody.
