Missouri: KCPD Motorcycle Officer struck by vehicle

A Kansas City Police Department Motorcycle Officer was struck by a vehicle early Monday morning.The incident happened after 6:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Hardesty.

Police said that officer is alert and talking, however Sgt. Bill Mahoney with the Kansas City Police Department said that officer has "considerable" injuries including a broken leg.

Sgt. Mahoney said the officer was in the area of Thompson and Hardesty while working speed enforcement when he was struck.The driver of the vehicle that struck the officer is cooperating with police.The speed limit in that area is 25 miles per hour.
