Maryland: Police car struck by passing semi during traffic stop
A missing mirror was all the damage done when a police car was struck during a routine traffic stop around 1:15 p.m. March 4, but Arenac County Undersheriff Don McIntyre said things could have been much worse.
“Luckily no one was hurt in this incident, but it goes to show you what could happen when you see that patrol car’s lights on and you don’t move over,” he said.
“We’re very, very thankful that deputy wasn’t injured,” McIntyre said.
A semi truck traveling northbound reportedly failed to move over while a sheriff’s deputy conducted the traffic stop, striking the mirror of the car, McIntyre said.
“The semi was located by the Michigan State Police motor carrier unit just up the road and the semi truck driver was given a citation for failing to use due caution for emergency vehicles,” he said.
McIntyre said the incident occurred near the 190 mile marker.
