Kentucky: Suspected drunk driver nearly hits firefighter at fire scene

A suspected drunk driver nearly hit a Louisville firefighter who was battling an active fire Sunday night, according to her arrest report.

A police officer was flagged down by the firefighter after jumping out of the way to avoid being hit by Kimberley A. Bear, 41, of Louisville, the report states.

The officer reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol radiating from Bear and noticed an open container of vodka on the driver's side floorboard of her vehicle.

Police said Bear failed sobriety tests. She was taken to Metro Corrections where her blood alcohol content was tested. She blew a .24, according to the arrest report. That's three times the legal limit in Kentucky.

Bear is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain required insurance, operating a vehicle with an expired operator's license, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.
