Connecticut: Wethersfield Police Officer Struck By Car

An officer struck by a passing car on Wells Road remains in the hospital Wednesday, officials said. Officer Peter McGee had responded to a car accident in the area about 6:45 p.m. near the intersection with Wolcott Hill Road. When he walked over to let the vehicles leave, he was struck, police Chief James Cetran said.

He was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital with leg and back injuries, Cetran said. He was still in the hospital Wednesday afternoon and may require some surgery, but he was expected to make a full recovery.

The Midstate Accident Reconstruction Team was called out to investigate the accident. Cetran said the driver has not yet been charged as that investigation continues.
