Washington: Trooper struck by vehicle, injured in Federal Way traffic stop
A Washington State Patrol trooper suffered leg and back injuries Wednesday when he was struck by a car in Federal Way. Trooper Greg Ulrich was speaking to the driver of a car he had stopped for a traffic violation when another vehicle, which was traveling on South 272nd Street to northbound Interstate 5, struck him, the State Patrol said.
Ulrich was taken to Harborview Medical Center.
Ulrich, a 25-year State Patrol veteran, is a King County motorcycle trooper.
The driver who hit Ulrich, a 28-year-old woman, was not impaired, the State Patrol said. Troopers are investigating but believe driver inattention was a factor.
