Utah: Police searching for fugitive who rammed into police car, nearly ran over officer in pursuit
Police are on the lookout for a man who led them on a high-speed chase Saturday night, nearly running over a police officer and ramming into a police car.
According to West Valley police Lt. Dalan Taylor, detectives spotted Christopher McMillan, 43, entering a 1992 white Lexus 400 along with two females on Saturday night. Police pursued the vehicle on westbound state Route 201. The car later pulled over at 7400 West where McMillan kicked out the two female passengers and drove off.
Taylor said McMillan nearly ran over an officer who attempted to throw spikes down to try and stop the vehicle.
"McMillan actually tried to hit that officer," said Taylor. "Fortunately, he (the officer) was able to get out of the way."
McMillan later exited Route 201 into Magna where he rammed into a Unified police vehicle on 8850 W. Main St. The officer in the police vehicle struck suffered minor injuries.
The chase entered into West Valley where the pursuit was later called off due to safety reasons.
"He's known to us," said Taylor. "We've arrested him many times for a variety of different things. So he's a long-time criminal."
With a criminal history dating back to 1999, McMillian has been on probation since 2015 for theft by receiving stolen property. McMillan was arrested last fall on charges out of Summit County.
