Texas: Houston 2 drivers hit stopped police cars after fatal motorcycle crash on I-10
Houston police say two of their patrol cars were struck by passing motorists during an investigation into a fatal motorcycle wreck on I-10. According to police, around 11 p.m. Tuesday a motorcyclist traveling westbound took the ramp to the 610 West Loop too quickly and lost control. The biker was thrown from the ramp and fell 45 to 50 feet to his death.
During the subsequent investigation, police say a possible DWI suspect crashed into the rear of an officer's stopped patrol SUV. The officer and the driver were both taken to the hospital.
A short while later, another driver went through the police barricade and struck another patrol car. There were no injuries or arrests in the last crash, however. Police say the driver was distracted, causing the incident.
The westbound lanes of I-10 the Katy Freeway were blocked for several hours but have since reopened.
