Tennessee: Off-Ramp Blocked; 2 Road Workers Injured
An off-ramp on Interstate 440 has been blocked due to an incident involving two road crew workers. Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the workers were seriously injured and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Authorities confirmed a work zone had been set up where workers were on scaffolding. A semi hit the scaffolding causing it and the workers to fall.
The incident was reported just before 2 p.m. Saturday at miler marker 5 in the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
“We'd like to urge motorists when they enter these work zones, please be mindful, move over law would obviously apply as well,” said Sergeant Travis Plotzer, of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
East bound traffic in that area was affected with the off-ramp blocked. Officials confirmed westbound drivers were not affected.
Crews estimated the roadway would be clear by 10 p.m.
