Oklahoma: Local woman arrested after car hits fire truck
A Bartlesville woman has been arrested after her car hit a Bartlesville Fire Department pumper truck on its way back from a fire run Wednesday evening.
Arrested in the incident was Stephanie L. Robinson, 50, on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol, transporting open alcoholic beverage and hit and run.
According to BFD Assistant Chief Bill Hollander, firefighters saw the woman driving erratically while they were returning from a fire around 10:51 p.m. in the area of Tuxedo Avenue and U.S. Highway 75.
“The guys saw it coming,” he said. “They stopped, hoping that she would go around them, but she hit the pumper truck.”
Bartlesville Police Department Capt. Jay Hastings said a witness saw the accident and reported it to dispatch.
“The witness said that a white Buick had struck a BFD truck and had driven off,” he said. “They said they were following the suspect and gave updates as to the location of the vehicle.”
The witness reportedly said the “vehicle was all over the road and speeding.”
“Officers saw the vehicle at Hensley and Delaware and initiated a traffic stop,” he said. “It turns out the driver was intoxicated and they arrested her.”
Hollander said the damage to the truck was minor and there were no injuries.
Robinson will have initial appearance on her charges Thursday in Washington County District Court.
