Oklahoma: Centralia Firefighter OK After He Was Struck Fighting Nowata County Fire

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Centralia firefighter struck by a car in Nowata County Thursday afternoon was listed in good condition at a Tulsa hospital. Troopers said the incident happened at 4:30 p.m. on Highway 60 about nine miles east of Nowata. They said David Hindman, 59, of Lenapah was headed west on 60 in a 2001 Mazda Miata when he drove into heavy smoke across the highway and struck Jeffery Mueller, 48, of Vinita on the driver side front quarter panel.

The OHP says Mueller was unraveling a fire hose from a fire truck parked on the side of the highway with its emergency lights on at the time. He was taken by medical helicopter to the Tulsa hospital with a leg injury.
