Ohio: Man hits deputy and cruiser, deputy fires shot

Montgomery County deputies are searching for Michael W. Hall after he is accused of striking a deputy with his vehicle and striking a sheriff’s deputy’s cruiser in the 5100 block of North Dixie Drive this morning.

Deputies encountered Hall while investigating a possible stolen vehicle around 8:45 a.m., according to Sheriff Phil Plummer.

Plummer said Hall has an active warrant for felonious assault and drug possession.

“We believe he is a drug dealer selling meth in our community,” said Plummer.

According to Plummer, a Montgomery County deputy fired a shot at Hall’s vehicle after Hall struck a deputy with his vehicle and then hit a deputy’s cruiser while fleeing from deputies toward southbound I-75.

The stolen vehicle investigation was separate from the encounter deputies had with Hall, Plummer said.

The deputy who fired a shot has been placed on paid leave, which is standard protocol.

Hall fled the scene in a tan Mercury Mountaineer with license plate number GJM 7375, Plummer said.

In addition to Hall, there were two other individuals inside the Mountaineer and Plummer said it’s unclear if anyone inside the vehicle was hit by the deputy’s gunfire.
