Indiana: 3 emergency workers hurt in crash, driver faces DUI
Two firefighters and an emergency medical technician, were injured Wednesday night on the southeast side when an SUV slammed into a two-vehicle wreck the crews were working on. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers took Kaitlyn M. Carlson, 22, into custody following the crash. She was preliminarily charged with a DUI.
The two Indianapolis firefighters were transported two IU Methodist Hospital with multiple, but non-life threatening injuries, officials said. The Indianapolis EMT was treated at the scene of the crash and returned to service.
Indianapolis Fire Department crews initially responded about 6:18 p.m. to the 6900 block of Gray Road on a report of a two-vehicle wreck. IFD officials said a silver Mercury Milan and a blue Ford Fusion had been involved in a minor, "personal injury" collision, and that neither driver was being transported to the hospital.
