Georgia: Driver hits firetruck and police vehicle, arrested on DUI charges
Law enforcement officials were investigating a wreck that occurred on Interstate 75 southbound underneath the Allgood Road bridge when police say 21-year-old William Powe’s Jeep Cherokee hit the patrol car. After continuing traveling, police say Powe then struck the firetruck.
A Kennesaw man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police say his car struck a Marietta Firetruck and police patrol vehicle at 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Law enforcement officials were investigating a wreck that occurred on Interstate 75 southbound underneath the Allgood Road bridge when police say 21-year-old William Powe’s Jeep Cherokee hit the patrol car.
Police say Powe attempted to continue traveling southbound after the collision and struck the firetruck.
Powe told police he had been at a friend’s house and had a couple of drinks, according to police.
An officer conducted a sobriety test and subsequently arrested Powe and charged him with DUI, failure to maintain lane, failing to move over for emergency vehicles, striking a fixed object and driving with an expired tag.
Powe is currently in custody at the Smyrna Police Department with a $2,225 bond.
