Georgia: Driver charged with DUI after hitting ambulance on Hwy. 20 east of Cumming

A 31-year-old Cumming man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle reportedly struck a non-emergency transport ambulance.

Christopher Don Moss was pulled over by a Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy between 11 p.m. and midnight Feb. 11 in front of Fire Station 15 on Buford Highway (Hwy. 20).

Moss was eventually cited for DUI, failure to maintain lane and possession of open alcohol container by driver.

According to an incident report, the deputy stopped Moss after the suspect reportedly failed to yield to an emergency vehicle while driving a 1999 Ford Mustang.

However, the deputy soon discovered the ambulance had signaled for the Mustang to turn into the fire station as a result of the collision, said Epifanio Rodriguez, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, though both the Mustang and the ambulance received “slight damage,” Rodriguez said.

During a search of the Mustang upon Moss’ arrest, an open 40-ounce Budweiser was found in the front passenger seat.
