Texas: Dallas police officer, teen hit by car
Dallas police said an officer and a teen were hit by a car Monday afternoon. According to a police source, officers were responding to reports of a large fight at the Las Lomas Apartments in the 6100 block of Trail Glen Drive in southeast Dallas.
An arriving officer saw a juvenile who appeared to be involved in the fight and was attempting to take that person into custody in the 200 block of Stoneport Drive.
"It was at that point that other suspects who were involved in the disturbance got into a vehicle and drove directly at the officer and the juvenile," said police spokesman Maj. Max Geron. "The vehicle struck both the officer and the juvenile."
A police officer who was trying to break up a fight between juveniles was struck and injured by a car that left the scene on Monday afternoon.
Police later located a vehicle possibly related to the offense, and they were working to identify suspects. Sources told WFAA that arrests on charges of aggravated assault should be expected later Monday.
The officer was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Sources said he was being treated for a broken leg. The other victim was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital. Further details of their conditions were not available.
