North Carolina: Trooper struck by ATV in China Grove
A trooper saw two four-wheelers on Highway 153 and attempted to stop them. The trooper pulled into Harmony Lane, got out of his vehicle and approached the ATVs. One of the ATV drivers intentionally sped toward the trooper and struck him, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The ATV driver turned around and attempted to strike the trooper again, police said. The trooper fired his gun and both ATVs left the scene, police said.
The trooper was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast in Concord with serious injuries. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
