Maryland: • Trooper injured in crash involving drunken driver
A trooper was injured Wednesday when his patrol car was struck by a drunken driver who hit a parked car nearby, according to Maryland State Police.
Sean Jester, 30, of North East, was charged with driving under the influence, negligent driving, reckless driving, failure to drive slowly while passing a stopped emergency vehicle and other charges.
State police said Trooper Charles Tittle, 22, was on a traffic stop inside his marked patrol car with his emergency equipment activated Wednesday night on westbound Old Philadelphia Road near Butterfield Lane.
Police said Jester's SUV struck Tittle's patrol car from behind. Troopers investigating the crash discovered that Jester had struck a parked car about 5 miles away, causing it to overturn, state police said. Tittle was treated and released from a hospital.
