Florida: • FHP trooper struck, dragged by car during traffic stop

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper sustained minor injuries after he was dragged alongside a car during a traffic stop Friday night, authorities said. According to the FHP, troopers stopped a white Dodge Charger on Andora Street near State Road 436 in Orlando shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday. The driver, Marcus Dallas, 25, had a suspended license, and his passenger Christal Cash, 25, was in possession of marijuana, the FHP said.

Troopers said a struggle ensued and when Trooper Moonda reached into the car to turn it off, Dallas took off with the trooper partially inside.

Troopers found the car nearby with Cash still inside. Dallas fled the area, but was arrested around midnight, the FHP said.

Dallas faces four felony charges, including fleeing and assault on a police officer. Cash was arrested on a felony charge for possession of marijuana, according to the FHP.

Trooper Moonda was treated on the scene for minor injuries.
