Connecticut: State Police Search For Car That Avoided DUI Check, Struck State Police Car
State police are searching for a car that avoided a DUI checkpoint in Waterbury Saturday night and damaged a state police car in the process.
Trooper Kelly Grant said state police were conducting the spot check about 9 p.m. on the I-84 westbound exit 18 off-ramp when the state police car was struck by a car that avoided the spot check.
Grant said the driver saw the spot check, then backed down the off-ramp, struck the police car then fled.
The car that hit the police car was described as a newer model silver Infinity four-door sedan with a Connecticut license plate. Troopers saw the letters "AA" on the plate as the vehicle fled, Grant said. The Infinity also has damage along the passenger side, possibly stretching from the front end of the car to the rear.
