Arkansas: Officers shoot, wound man who hit deputy with vehicle, state police say
Arkansas State Police say a man was shot and wounded by a law enforcement officer in Crossett.
A news release from state police spokesman Bill Sadler on Friday said David Massey Jr. was shot while driving a vehicle toward an Ashley County deputy when officers were attempting to arrest him Thursday morning. The release says both the deputy and another officer fired at the vehicle, which struck the deputy before crashing into a parked pickup, then traveling a short distance before stopping. Massey then surrendered.
Sadler said the deputy was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and Massey was taken to a Little Rock hospital for treatment of a wound described as non-life threatening.
The names of the officers and details of the arrest warrant were not immediately released.
