Virginia: Trooper injured after suspect slams into cruiser on I-95
A Virginia State Trooper was injured after his cruiser was struck by a fleeing suspect’s vehicle along I-95 in Greensville County Saturday afternoon.
Sgt. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police said troopers received a report from the North Carolina Highway Patrol of a reckless driver that had just crossed into the Commonwealth.
A trooper spotted the suspect’s vehicle along I-95 north at mile marker 11 just after 1:35 p.m.
When the trooper activated his lights and siren, the suspect kept going.
Then the suspect ran into the back of another trooper’s vehicle at a high rate of speed, Vick said. The cruiser was forced into a guardrail.
The suspect’s vehicle was then stopped at mile marker 13 and the driver was arrested.
The trooper, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, was transported to Southside Regional Hospital in Emporia where he was treated and released.
