North Carolina: Driver hits Durham deputy escorting funeral
A Durham County deputy was injured Tuesday when he was hit by a car while escorting a funeral, authorities said. The deputy, whose name wasn't released, tried to stop traffic at the intersection of Perry and Broad streets so the funeral procession could pass, but one driver didn't stop and hit the deputy on his motorcycle, authorities said. He was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
The Durham Police Department is investigating the crash.
