Missouri: St. Peters police officer struck by SUV, still makes arrest.
A St. Peters Police Officer was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday evening while trying to make an arrest at Mid Rivers Mall. Authorities report that around 10pm Tuesday night, the St. Peters Police Department received a call from Dillard’s security about a stealing in progress. Officers responded to the area and witnessed the male subject on the parking lot, with two Dillard’s employees chasing him. The suspect, now identified as 38 yr old Darrin Long, got into his vehicle and refused to comply with police orders. Long then reversed rapidly, striking one officer, before fleeing the area.
The officer was able to get back into the police vehicle and stopped Long on Veterans Memorial Parkway just east of Mid Rivers Mall Drive. The injured officer went to hospital with minor injuries and later released. Long was transported to St. Charles County Jail where he is being held on a $75,000 bond.
