Maryland: Montgomery County police officer struck by SUV during traffic stop in Rockville
A Montgomery County police officer was struck by a vehicle Thursday night while conducting a traffic stop in Rockville. Police say the officer was hit on Rockville Pike nearby Edmonston Drive at around 9:45 p.m.
The officer was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.The driver of passing SUV remained on the scene and was taken into custody. Police say they are investigating the possibility that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Rockville Pike is closed in both directions between Edmonston Drive to Talbot Street.
