Indiana: Fatal Crash Under Investigation After Vehicle Hits On-Duty Detective's Vehicle
Shortly before 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, an IMPD on-duty detective was stopped at the intersection of Stop 11 Road and South Emerson Avenue awaiting the stop light to change. As the detective was awaiting the light to change a vehicle, for an unknown reason, struck the rear of the detective's vehicle. The suspect's vehicle then struck the detective's vehicle a second time.
Both collisions caused damage to the rear of the detective's vehicle. The detective exited his vehicle in an attempt to investigate the collisions and immediately identified himself. The suspect vehicle then drove his vehicle toward the detective. The detective immediately stepped behind his vehicle's driver's side door for cover. The suspect vehicle continued toward the detective striking the detective's drivers side door. The suspect vehicle went south on Emerson Ave and then west on Stop 11 Road.
The detective later found the suspect vehicle off to the side of the road and appearing inverted.
