Illinois: Man shot while driving toward police officer gets four-year sentence
A Lockport man who was shot by a Joliet police officer as he drove toward the officer was sentenced to four years in prison Wednesday for trying to flee from police and accelerating his car toward them.
A Will County jury in September found James Pacheco, 39, guilty of aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing/eluding police and driving under the influence in connection with the July 2012 incident that led police on a chase from near Union Street and into Lockport.
Joliet Police officers Adam Stapleton and Eric Zettergren were responding to a call about a broken car window near the 300 block of Union when they spotted Pacheco, who was a suspect in the incident.
