Illinois: Chicago Police shoot at vehicle after driver tries to run down officer
Police fired at a vehicle in the 3000 block of North Clybourn early Tuesday after the driver allegedly tried to hit an officer. Four people inside a car were arrested early Tuesday after the driver tried to hit a police officer with the vehicle, prompting an officer to open fire in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side, police said.
Officers were called about a battery in progress in the 3000 block of North Clybourn at 2:10 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The male driver tried to run down an officer with a vehicle while driving away from the scene, Alfaro said. Police fired shots at the car, but nobody was struck.
Responding officers then stopped the vehicle and took the driver and three passengers into custody, police said. A pellet gun was recovered from inside the vehicle.
