Florida: Hillsborough motorcycle deputy injured in Gibsonton crash
A Hillsborough County motorcycle deputy was injured Tuesday when a flatbed truck struck him from behind and dragged him 150 feet. Deputy Tim Berg had to be extricated from beneath the truck and remained conscious through the entire incident, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Berg, 37, is a nine-year veteran of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred about 1:30 p.m. in Gibsonton. Berg, who was headed west on Gibsonton Drive, stopped at a red light, deputies said. The driver of a white flatbed truck lost control and hit him from behind.
The flatbed then struck a car, a Ford F-150 and a semi-truck. The collision caused the semi-truck to hit two other vehicles.
