Connecticut: Danbury Police Officer Hit By Car While Directing Traffic
A Danbury police officer was injured after she was struck by a car and thrown approximately 15-feet into the air early Tuesday morning.
Police responded to the call of a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Hoyt Street and Rose Hill Avenue around 6:50 a.m.
According to police, Officer Brittany Alvarez was directing traffic at this location for ongoing construction. Alvarez was wearing OSHA approved safety apparel, police said. A Danbury man, identified as Antonio Desousa, traveling southbound on Rose Hill Avenue said he did not see Officer Alvarez and struck her with the left front of his vehicle, police said.
Alvarez was thrown 15-feet into the air as a result. She was transported to Danbury Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.
