Texas: Suspect struck officer with car, 2nd officer shot suspect in face
The Harlingen Police Department says one its officers shot a man in the face after the suspect struck another officer with a vehicle. The new details of the officer involved shooting were released this afternoon by Harlingen Police Chief Jeffry Adickes.
He said the officers were called to a disturbance in the 2500 block of Chuparosa at 2:35 a.m. As they arrived they saw a man leave the scene in a dark colored SUV driving without lights.
Adickes said as the officers got out of their patrol car the suspect accelerated and struck one of the officers in the leg. He said that's when the second officer fired at the man and shot him in the face.
The officer suffered only minor injuries. The suspect is listed in stable condition at an area hospital.
Adickes says the suspect will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer and one count of DWI felony.
