Oregon: Flagger hit by vehicles, seriously injured; driver suspected of DUI
A flagger in a construction zone was seriously injured after being hit by two vehicles Thursday night on Highway 99W south of Amity, according to Lt. Bill Fugate of Oregon State Police.
At around 7 p.m., a stopped pickup truck was hit by another vehicle and both vehicles slide into the flagger near milepost 47 on Highway 99W, Fugate said.
The flagger, a man in his 50s, was life-flighted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, Fugate said.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the pickup truck is under investigation for driving under the influence, Fugate said.
Both drivers stayed at the scene and were cooperating with investigators.
