Oregon: Flagger hit by vehicles on Hwy 99W, seriously injured

A flagger in a construction zone was seriously injured after being hit by two vehicles Thursday night on Highway 99W south of Amity, according to Lt. Bill Fugate of Oregon State Police. At around 7 p.m., Dallas Chrisman, 23, was driving an SUV when he sideswiped a stopped pickup truck. Both vehicles slid into the flagger near milepost 47, Fugate said.

The flagger, 56-year-old Aldo John, was flown to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. He was listed in critical condition Friday afternoon.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, Fugate said.

Both drivers stayed at the scene and were cooperating with investigators. No charges have been announced.
