Mississippi: Deputy hit by truck

A Madison County deputy was directing traffic when he was struck by a truck Friday night. The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. at Church Rd. and Nissan Blvd. The deputy was directing traffic due to a disabled vehicle, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

The driver of the pickup truck was distracted when the deputy was struck. The deputy was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a broken left hand, WLBT reported. The pickup truck driver has not been charged.
