Michigan: Five injured when car crashes into fire truck, westbound I-196 closed
Two adults and three children were injured after a car slammed into the back of a Grand Rapids fire truck that was parked along I-196 because of an earlier crash. Westbound I-196 after Lake Michigan Drive is closed.
The crash happened at 10:12 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-196 at the Butterworth Street overpass. Snowy and slippery conditions, particularly at the overpass, likely contributed to the crash, fire officials said.
Police said the adult female passenger was unconscious and taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. Three children in the back seat were taken to DeVos Children's Hospital.
