Maryland, Pennsylvania: 2 more accused of dragging York County police officer by car arrested, police say

Maryland police arrested two more suspects accused of dragging a York County police officer by car. Roberto F. Tabares, 38, of Rockville, Maryland, drove the vehicle that dragged Officer Michael Storeman 40 to 50 yards through Glen Rock last week, according to Southern Regional police. Tabares was arrested overnight on a warrant issued by Southern Regional police.

During the arrest, police said a police K9 officer bit Tabares, who was treated at a local hospital.

Police announced during the investigation that they were also looking for passenger Jenny Kim, 38, for questioning in the incident. Following the arrests, the pair was taken to Maryland central booking, and they will await extradition to Pennsylvania on the charges.

They join 36-year-old David R. Achstetter, who was arrested early Sunday in his hometown of Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Police said he Achstetter was the front-seat passenger in the vehicle and held onto Storeman's arm as the officer was dragged down Water Street in Glen Rock. The man let go of Storeman at the Hanover Street intersection, and the officer hit a stopped vehicle after he slid across the road, police said.

Police said the officer had initially been called to investigate a suspicious black Toyota Camry parked outside a convenience store in Glen Rock. Storeman reported seeing a woman slumped over in the back seat and two men in the front of the vehicle when he approached the vehicle.

Storeman was treated at York Hospital and has since been released.

Tabares and Achstetter have each been charged with aggravated assault, hindering apprehension or prosecution, unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief, according to police.
