Georgia: Bibb sheriff's deputy 'OK' after being hit by car
A Bibb County sheriff's deputy was not believed to be seriously hurt when he was struck by a car while directing traffic outside a concert at the Big House Museum on Sunday evening.
The incident happened about 6 p.m. at 2321 Vineville Ave., near the Rogers Avenue intersection.
Deputy Christopher Burtum, when he called for an ambulance, told a dispatcher by radio, "I'm OK. I just need to get checked out."
Bibb sheriff's spokeswoman Linda Howard said 72-year-old Edward Abin was driving the slow-moving vehicle that hit the Burtum after apparently not seeing the officer in the roadway.
She said the deputy tumbled into the car's windshield and suffered "superficial injuries." No charges were pending.
