Utah: Woman nearly strikes Utah trooper in Interstate 15 crash
Authorities say a Cedar City woman has been hospitalized after she rolled her vehicle and nearly struck a Utah Highway Patrol trooper conducting a traffic stop.
The Spectrum reports that the 55-year-old woman had to be extricated from the crushed vehicle on Sunday and was then transported to a hospital.
Trooper Evan Kirby says the woman had been heading north on Interstate 15 when she drifted off the right shoulder, and then swerved to avoid hitting the trooper who had stopped a vehicle north of Parowan. The woman overcorrected and veered off the side of the freeway, rolling her vehicle multiple times.
The woman's identity hasn't yet been released.
Kirby says her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
