New York: Avon man almost hits deputy, charged with felony DWI

An Avon man is facing several charges after deputies say he almost hit them with his SUV. Deputy Brandon Flickner was conducting a traffic stop on Route 5 in Avon on October 9. While speaking to the stopped motorist, Flickner was almost struck by another SUV that was traveling west on Route 5.

Flickner chased the SUV to Harper Park and the motorist, 62-year-old Clifford Greer, fled on foot. Deputy Flickner followed Greer into a wooded area where he was eventually taken into custody after being tased.

Greer was treated at the scene for injuries and was later transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. No law enforcement members were injured during the incident.

Greer was charged with felony DWI, unlawfully fleeing from a police officer, resisting arrest, and reckless driving, along with other numerous violations.
