Michigan: Auburn Hills police officer hit by car during traffic stop
An Auburn Hills police officer is recovering at the hospital after being hit by a vehicle during a traffic stop Friday morning. The department said the officer, whose name is not yet being released, was trying to arrest a 22-year-old Pontiac woman during the stop on Opdyke Road when the suspect broke free.
She got into her vehicle and backed up, hitting the officer and his patrol car before fleeing the scene. The 37-year-old officer was treated for his injuries at McLaren Osteopathic Hospital -- and has already been released. Police said they found the suspect's vehicle in a hotel parking lot, but she wasn't there. Police said they believe the driver was picked up from a nearby gas station.
