Kansas: Overland Park police officer struck by fleeing driver
An Overland Park police officer was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon while trying to catch a theft suspect.Police said the officer responded to a call at a business near 117th Street and Metcalf Avenue and saw the person running to a car. The officer gave chase and was struck by the vehicle as it drove away.
Police said they later caught up with that vehicle and took the person into custody. They have not released any names. The officer was taken to a hospital, treated for minor injuries and released later in the day.
