Connecticut: Man Struck Police Cars With 2-Month Old Baby In Vehicle
A 25-year-old man is facing numerous charges after police say he fled the scene of an accident and led police on a chase that ended with him striking several police cruisers with his wife and two-month old baby in the car.
Police said that an officer arrived to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Golden Hill Street at 11:30 a.m. Monday and that a 1999 Mercedes then fled the scene as the officer was radioing in the accident.
Police pursued and attempted to stop the vehicle being driven by Anthony Cameron for 10 minutes with lights and sirens on before his vehicle struck a police cruiser on Washington Ave., police said. Cameron's vehicle then struck another police cruiser before becoming disabled and police said that he then fled on foot.
Cameron was detained by police on Highland Avenue and police later found 6.4 grams of marijuana in his discarded jacket. He was charged with reckless endangerment, engaging police in a pursuit, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, evading responsibility in an accident, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, possession of marijuana and risk of injury to a minor. Police said that they found Cameron's wife, Nicker Brown-Cameron, and his two-month old baby inside the vehicle. Brown-Cameron was wanted by the Stratford police department, police said.
