Canada: Tow truck driver escapes serious injury on Deerfoot
A tow truck driver has been taken to hospital in serious but stable condition after being hit by a passing vehicle in the NE. At around 7:30pm Monday, EMS says they attended a scene on NB Deerfoot just before 16th Avenue and treated a man in his 30’s who had been struck by a vehicle while working in the far left lane.
The man was providing roadside assistance for a broken down vehicle as a flat-deck tow truck operator.
The man was struck, came up and into the windshield of the passing vehicle and then fell from the car back onto the road.
According to EMS, there were some concerns of pelvic and lower body injuries.
The woman driving the other vehicle was not injured.
No word yet on whether driver inattention or other factors may have led to the incident or if charges will be laid.
