California: San Francisco officer injured after being struck by suspect’s vehicle
A police officer was injured after being hit by a car Sunday night around midnight in San Francisco. Officers responded to the unit block of Mirabela Avenue located in the Ingleside District regarding a possible auto burglary, according to police.
The officer stepped out of his patrol vehicle to investigate the incident when the suspect attempted to run him over.
The suspect struck the officer, pinning him up against his vehicle, police said.
The suspect then attempted to flee but was stopped when another patrol vehicle arrived on scene. The suspect struck the second patrol vehicle, but was unable to escape.
SFPD officers were able to take the suspect into custody without any further incident, according to police.
The injured officer was immediately transported to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The officer possibly sustained broken ribs and unknown leg injuries at this time. There were two other possible suspects that may have been involved and they have been detained pending further investigation.
