New Mexico: Fugitive struck deputy while fleeing traffic stop
Law enforcement in Colfax County is searching for a fugitive who struck a deputy while fleeing from a traffic stop Wednesday night.
According to Raton Police Chief John Garcia, the deputy attempted to stop Alan Martinez, 44, around 8 p.m. Martinez was wanted on a previous warrant for fleeing from police and drug trafficking in Colorado.
Garcia said Martinez pushed a female passenger out of the car before fleeing. The woman suffered minor scrapes. As Martinez drove away, he hit the deputy with his vehicle, according to police. Garcia said the deputy has been treated and released from the hospital.
