Canada: Woman charged after bylaw officer struck by car
A Cambridge woman was charged this morning with dangerous operation of a vehicle and failing to remain at the scene after she allegedly hit a city bylaw officer who was about to ticket her car.
The 42-year-old woman was dropping off her children in front of Avenue Public School Tuesday (Sept. 8) at 8:40 a.m. when a Cambridge bylaw officer approached her vehicle to issue a parking ticket. The woman, however, sped away, striking the bylaw officer in the process. The bylaw employee received minor injuries.
Police located and charged the driver a short time later. She was released on a promise to appear in court.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police at 519-653-7700 ext. 2299.
Police are reminding drivers to use caution on the roads, especially during the start of the school year.
