Canada: Calgary police officer struck by stolen truck
A Calgary police officer was hurt after being hit by a stolen truck early Tuesday morning.
It happened just after 8 a.m. MT on the 5600 block of Eighth Avenue S.E. after police were called to the area to deal with reports of a car prowling.
Officers stopped a black Silverado pickup truck, and a male passenger was removed and taken into custody without incident, police said in a release.
"However, when the officer asked the woman to step out of the vehicle, she put the truck into reverse, sideswiped the officer and collided with the police vehicle, before speeding away from the scene," police said.
The officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Police are still searching for the woman and the truck, which is believed to be stolen.
The suspect is described as five feet six inches with dyed red hair.
