Canada: 2 people arrested after Calgary police officer hit by car
Police have two people in custody in connection to a hit and run that injured a police officer on Tuesday. It happened in Penbrooke Meadows after officers were called to the community for reports of a car prowling.
Investigators were able to locate a black Chevrolet Silverado driving in the area of 1 Avenue and Penworth Drive S.E. which was thought to be stolen.
They pulled the vehicle over and asked the driver and passenger to get out. The passenger exited the vehicle without incident, but the female driver put the car into reverse and backed up, sideswiping an officer and ramming into a police cruiser. She then sped off from the scene.
On Wednesday, investigators located the Silverado involved in the incident, and took two people into custody.
The officer who was injured in the hit-and-run suffered minor injuries to his leg.
